A massive tribute to the soul sounds of the 60s and 70s, served up with help from a host of hip singers who include Darondo, Nicole Willis, Karime Kendra, and Fanny Franklin. Lee's grooves are as funky as ever, but the instrumentation's also a bit fuller too – touched with elements of 60s Motown, Memphis, and Muscle Shoals – produced perfectly, and delivered with a depth that we hardly would have expected from Shawn a few short years ago!

Karen's approach is a bit like that of Ursula Rucker, although somewhat warmer overall – deeply personal in its lyrical content, and delivered over soulful backings that are heavy on keyboards, and a bit less so on beats – a setting that's as rich in sound as Karen's themes, often with a funky undercurrent that nods back towards hip soul poetry records of the 70s

Dog Day - Concentration
Tomlab presents this second record from a great Canadian band. They play pretty spaced out indie rock, perfect for a lazy day with the bong. Highly recommended for fans of Pavement and Built To Spill. Pick it up, the art is amazing and the music is even better.
