The Strange Boys began as a duo (Ryan and Matt) in 2003. Philip joined in 2004 and Greg in 2005. From 2003 to 2006 three LPs and a handful of EPs were recorded and sold at shows, but never released. In 2007, Dusty Medical records released the Nothing EP and in 2008 In the Red records released the Woe is You and Me single. In January of 2009 In the Red records will release The Strange Boys and Girls Club LP.

The Strange Boys were the backing band for Mighty Hannibal (50’s R&B recording artist), were main support for Roky Erickson and the Explosives at the Chaos in Tejas festival, have played South by Southwest the last four years, Austin City Limits Festival (2008), Fuck Yeah Fest the last three years, Music Fest Northwest (2008) and Bamalama (2008); shared bills with Daniel Johnston, Black Lips, Reigning Sound, King Khan and BBQ, Jay Reatard, Mika Miko, No Age and BRMC; have toured with The Black Angels, Fucked Up, The Carrots, Crystal Antlers, and Darker My Love.

Tengo dudas de si este disco es del 2008 o del 2009. Rateyourmusic lo cataloga en el 2008, pero en algunos blogs pone que es del 2009. En Marriage records, en el enlace de compra, pone In soon. Igual es una nueva edición en Lp o qué se yo. En cualquier caso lo dejo por aquí. Si alguien me da argumentos para ponerlo en el 2008 lo cambio.

el disco de action beat tiene una pinta descomunal. gracias, acidmama. a ver si se dejan caer por el sur en una de los macro-giras que se marcan.

lo he estado escuchando ahora, chema y la verdad es que está bastante gracioso el de Action Beat, bastante fiel a lo que son en directo. se les ve un poco verdes todavía, pero yo tengo bastante fe en ellos.
parece mentira que le saquen tanto partido a lo que hacen con tan pocos elementos: sonic youth, glenn branca con un toque touch and go y palante (además sin voces).
a mí me gustan mucho, rollo que los escuchas y dices "me gustaría tocar en un grupo así", y además en directo impactan bastante.

pelukis, el de Obits (gracias) es el proyecto de rick frohberg (drive like jehu, hot snakes); speedo (john rheis) no toca aquí, está bastante ocupado con lo de the night marchers, grupo que aprovecho para reivindicar otra vez.
